YOU ARE INVITED TO ATTEND
PAID FOR BY FAR
Can you believe that vernal pools have not yet been found at Alewife? We want our members and friends to find them. We know they are there because frogs, toads and salamanders reside on the Reservation.
It seems as though everyone and their grandparents are offering these Vernal Pool Certification Workshops this year. The Massachusetts Audubon Society is no exception. As a service to you, they are offering a two-day workshop where you will learn how to identify vernal pools;identify and record the presence of frogs, toads, salamanders, egg masses (yum!) and aquatic insects; map, photograph, and document the pool and its species; and compile and submit your findings to certify the pool. Anyone can learn this. A copy of Massachusetts Audubon's vernal pool certification handbook is included in the fee. The cost for both days is $30 for members and $35 for non-members. The times and dates are Thursday March 8, 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 10, 1:00-3:00 p.m. For more information, call Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary at (508) 655-2296 or (781) 235-3929.
Post your name and phone on this list serve if you want to go, and we will send in the money for you. But do so ASAP. There are plenty of folks to take you out there to look especially in springtime.
