Great Work, Neighbors!!! Update: 10/25/21 Conservation Commission Hearing

Excellent work, neighbors!! At least 50* members of the public turned out for this Conservation Commission (ConComm) hearing on IQHQ’s Notice of Intent (NOI) on the old W. R. Grace site at 62 Whittemore Avenue. Because IQHQ is still working out relevant details on stormwater management, flooding and habitat, the hearing was continued. We anticipate the next ConComm hearing to be announced soon. Once we hear for certain, we will post details here.

IQHQ seeks to develop the old W. R. Grace site. Some of those 27 acres are in wetlands or border wetlands, which means the Conservation Commission (ConComm) has to review and improve IQHQ’s plans. The ConComm seeks to ensure that wildlife and habitat are protected, and that the developer provide compensatory flood storage equal (or greater) for any building on floodplains.

*The ConComm said 50 is the greatest number of public participants they’ve had at a hearing in years (possibly ever!!). They also said that the collaboration among developer, neighborhood groups and neighbors was highly unusual and a very welcome, er, development.
