MassDOT to survey Alewife Brook Parkway and locate wetlands, Thurs, Feb 10

Hi All,

IQHQ kindly informed us that:

Green International has been contracted by MassDOT to survey Alewife Brook Parkway and locate wetlands and show their associative buffer lines.  At times they will be inside the fence around Jerry’s Pond. At this time, they are scheduled for this Thursday, February 10th starting around 10AM.  They feel their work/access should only take a couple of hours.  They have been instructed on the following protocols:

  • Visitors will need to wear some sort of florescent colored vests, preferably identifying who they are affiliated with.
  • Before entering the area(s) directly adjacent to Jerry’s Pond, need to pre-screen the area for wildlife by viewing from adjacent public spaces and document in a daily report.
  • If herons or other wildlife are observed, keep reasonable distance from nest areas, etc. to limit disturbance.
  • Once work is completed, provide IQHQ a short summary/report of the visit within 24 hours of completion noting any issue, observation, wildlife encounters, etc.
