Planning Board hearing on Floodplain Overlay and Bicycle parking plans for IQHQ’s Jerry’s Pond Project – Tue May 6, at 6:30pm on Zoom
The Cambridge Planning Board will hold a hearing this Tuesday on the “Special Permit application by IQHQ-Alewife LLC to improve the area around Jerry’s Pond with pedestrian paths, boardwalks, pavilion, and landscaping pursuant to Sections 6.108, Modification of Bicycle Parking Requirements, and 20.70 Floodplain Overlay District.”
The Floodplain Overlay permit is to make sure IQHQ’s plans include compensatory flood storage for extra soil added along Rindge Avenue (to better support trees and plants), and for posts installed in the ground (to support decks and boardwalks).

Cambridge Joint Transportation Committees met on Thursday, April 24, to review parts of IQHQ’s Jerry’s Pond plans
At the April 24 meeting of the Cambridge Joint Transportation Committees, IQHQ presented their planned improvements to Jerry’s Pond for bicycle, pedestrian, and multi-use paths, plus bicycle parking, community meeting space, and seating options. Click here for the slides (start on slide 16).
IQHQ’s Jerry’s Pond improvement plans were approved by the Conservation Commission in February 2024. However, the Transportation Committees requested that IQHQ present updates to its Jerry’s Pond plans since IQHQ last met with these committees on November 11, 2023. After this meeting, the Bicycle Committee submitted a memo to the Planning Board for its May 6 hearing on IQHQ’s plans. See Meeting Materials for this memo and others.
